Dr. Malmquist received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio. He completed his internship and orthopaedic residency training at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.

After residency and certification by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, he continued his orthopaedic practice at Tripler Army Medical Center and at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He left the United States Army Medical Department at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel joining Western Kentucky Orthopaedic Associates in 2001.

Additional training includes computer assisted total knee replacement surgery, anterior approach total hip replacement, reverse total shoulder replacement and Oxford unicompartmental knee replacement surgery. Areas of interest include total joint replacement, both hip and knee as well as sports medicine including ACL reconstruction and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair as well as fracture surgery.

Dr. Malmquist has staff privileges at Greenview Regional Hospital and at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.

Memberships include the Warren County Medical Society, Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons and The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is also a member of the Bowling Green, Warren County Chamber of Commerce.
